Entry Requirements:
Ability to read and write in English.
Minimum age: 18 years.
Health certificate confirming fitness for course participation, issued by a General Practitioner, covering considerations such as color blindness and suitability for work at heights.
Completion of MQF Level 2 Award in Understanding Health and Safety (or equivalent).
Completion of MQF Level 3 Award in Demolition Operative (with or without a licence to operate small mobile plants).
RPL may be used to enrol in this course.
Overall Programme Description:
This programme equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to supervise and operate mobile plant equipment on demolition sites. It covers theoretical topics such as health and safety regulations, types of mobile plant equipment, maintenance, site management, material handling, and effective communication. The practical component involves hands-on operation of excavators, bulldozers, and loaders, as well as material separation and recycling techniques. Learners complete supervised hours on actual demolition sites, culminating in a certification that demonstrates competence in safely managing demolition operations.

Knowledge Learners Will Gain:
KLO1: Assess the scope of work on large demolition sites, including tasks, resources, and project objectives.
KLO2: Identify hazards and risks, and assist in mitigating damage to services.
KLO3: Plan the stages required to complete demolition tasks safely and efficiently.
KLO4: Read and interpret method statements, civil engineering drawings, H&S reports, and use low voltage equipment (LVE).
Skills Learners Will Develop:
SLO1: Dismantle, demolish, remove, and separate structures using both handheld tools and manual methods.
SLO2: Operate and handle mobile plant equipment safely and efficiently.
SLO3: Apply relevant legal regulations, including the Workplace (Minimum Health and Safety Requirements for Work at Construction Sites) Regulations (S.L. 424.13).
