The programme consists of two modules.
Module 1: Identifying Systems, Equipment, and Components
Credits: 1 ECTS
Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge:
Understand different types of reinforcing bars, wire mesh, and couplers used in construction.
Recognise tools, equipment, and machinery used in bar bending and steel fixing.
Understand safety procedures and basic reinforcement detailing in construction drawings.
Skills:
Identify reinforcement systems and materials used in construction.
Interpret drawings and specifications related to reinforcement work.
Apply correct safety procedures when handling reinforcement tools and materials.
Competences:
Work responsibly under supervision, ensuring accuracy and safety in material identification.
Report defects or irregularities to supervisors.
Maintain an organised and safe work environment.
Module 2: Setting Out Formwork and Falsework – Erecting and Dismantling
Credits: 1 ECTS
Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge:
Understand safety measures and procedures for erecting and dismantling formwork and falsework.
Identify various systems, materials, and components used in formwork construction.
Understand alignment, levelling, and quality control principles in formwork and falsework work.
Skills:
Set out, erect, and dismantle formwork and falsework safely and efficiently.
Interpret technical drawings and apply correct construction methods.
Operate hand tools and equipment safely during formwork and falsework activities.
Competences:
Follow instructions and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Work collaboratively as part of a construction team.
Maintain order, cleanliness, and safety throughout all work processes.
Learners will understand:
The materials, components, and systems used in formwork and falsework.
Health, safety, environmental, and quality standards relevant to the construction process.
The importance of communication, teamwork, and sustainability on site.
Learners will be able to:
Identify and use tools, materials, and equipment correctly and safely.
Interpret and follow construction drawings and specifications.
Assist in setting out, erecting, and dismantling formwork and falsework structures.
