Module 1: Identify systems, equipment, and components – MQF Level 4
Credit: 1 ECTS
This module equips learners to identify different materials for specific applications based on technical properties and assess environmental impacts. The focus is on steel reinforcement bars, their functional requirements, sustainability, and safe handling. Participants learn to select materials, evaluate properties, integrate sustainability, and ensure workplace safety.
Autonomy and Responsibility:
Independently analyse material properties and suitability for bar bending and steel fixing.
Make informed decisions based on structural design, load requirements, and standards.
Assess direct and indirect environmental impacts and integrate sustainability in material selection.
Maintain safe working environments during material handling and installation.
Collaborate effectively with construction teams, architects, and engineers.
Apply problem-solving skills for material-related challenges.
Demonstrate autonomy and professional judgment in tasks.
Communicate material requirements and environmental considerations clearly.
Continuously update knowledge in material selection, technical analysis, and sustainability.
Knowledge:
Construction materials used in bar bending and steel fixing, particularly steel reinforcement bars.
Technical properties of materials, including strength, ductility, durability, and corrosion resistance.
Techniques for evaluating material properties and suitability for applications.
Environmental impacts throughout a material’s life cycle and methods for assessment (LCA, carbon footprint, etc.).
Sustainability principles and safe handling procedures.
Regulatory frameworks and industry guidelines related to material selection and environmental assessment.
Skills:
Accurately identify materials for bar bending and steel fixing.
Analyse and evaluate technical properties of construction materials.
Make informed material selection decisions.
Assess environmental impacts and integrate sustainability considerations.
Implement safe handling, storage, and installation techniques.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding material requirements and environmental assessments.
Solve material-related challenges using technical, environmental, and budgetary considerations.
