BLS/AED and Choking Adult, Child and Infant
This comprehensive course is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. It focuses on Basic Life Support (BLS), the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and managing choking emergencies for all age groups. Participants will learn life-saving techniques that will prepare them to act confidently in critical situations, whether at home, in the workplace, or in public settings.
By combining theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on training, this course ensures that participants are ready to provide immediate care for a variety of emergencies involving adults, children, and infants until professional medical help arrives.
What You’ll Learn:
- Adult BLS (Basic Life Support): Learn the proper techniques for performing CPR on adults, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and how to adapt your approach for various emergency situations.
- Adult AED Use (Automated External Defibrillator): Understand how to use an AED effectively for adults, including the necessary steps for defibrillation as part of the CPR process.
- Choking Emergencies for Adults: Learn how to identify and manage choking in adults, including performing the Heimlich maneuver and back blows.
- Paediatric BLS (Basic Life Support): Learn how to perform CPR on infants, children, and adolescents, including adjusting techniques based on age and size.
- Paediatric AED Use (Automated External Defibrillator): Understand how to safely use an AED for children and infants, and how to perform CPR with or without an AED.
- Choking Emergencies for Children and Infants: Recognize the signs of choking in children and infants, and how to respond with appropriate techniques, such as back blows, chest thrusts, or abdominal thrusts.
- CPR Techniques for All Ages: Master the techniques for performing CPR on adults, children, and infants, ensuring proper compression depth, rate, and the correct number of breaths for each age group.
- Basic First Aid for All Age Groups: Learn how to manage common medical emergencies such as cuts, burns, fractures, allergic reactions, and seizures for both adults and paediatrics.
- Shock Management: Recognise and respond to shock in adults, children, and infants, and understand how to manage the different causes of shock in various age groups.
Course Equipment:
- CPR Manikins (Adult, Child, and Infant Models): For practicing CPR techniques, including chest compressions and rescue breaths across all age groups.
- AED Training Units: To practice the proper use of AEDs for adults, children, and infants as part of the CPR process.
- Choking Simulation Models: To practice managing choking emergencies in adults, children, and infants using techniques like the Heimlich maneuver, back blows, and chest thrusts.
- First Aid Kits: Learn how to use the contents of a standard first aid kit to treat injuries and medical emergencies for all ages.
- Bandages and Dressings: To practice wound care and bandaging techniques on adults, children, and infants.
- Fracture and Splinting Kits: For learning to treat and immobilize fractures in all age groups.
All necessary materials and equipment will be provided for a comprehensive, hands-on training experience.
