Emergency Oxygen Administrator

At ALDB Academy, we aim to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to administer emergency oxygen in critical situations. Whether dealing with respiratory distress, cardiac emergencies, or trauma, this course will provide participants with the training necessary to safely administer supplemental oxygen and effectively manage patients in need of respiratory support until professional medical help arrives.

What You’ll Learn:

• Basic Respiratory Physiology: Understand the role of oxygen in the body and how to recognize signs of respiratory distress, hypoxia, and the need for supplemental oxygen.
• Indications for Oxygen Therapy: Learn the medical conditions and emergencies that may require oxygen administration, including asthma, COPD, cardiac arrest, trauma, and shock.
• Types of Oxygen Delivery Devices: Familiarize yourself with different oxygen delivery devices, including:
  • Oxygen Cylinders: How to use portable oxygen cylinders safely.
  • Nasal Cannulas: For low to medium flow oxygen therapy.
  • Oxygen Masks: For higher flow oxygen administration.
  • Bag-Valve Masks (BVM): For resuscitation and higher volume oxygen delivery in cases of cardiac arrest.
• Oxygen Administration Techniques: Learn how to safely administer oxygen, including adjusting flow rates, ensuring proper mask placement, and managing airway obstructions.
• Oxygen Safety Protocols: Understand the risks associated with oxygen use, including fire hazards, correct handling, and storage of oxygen cylinders.
• Monitoring Oxygen Therapy: Learn how to monitor patients for signs of oxygen overuse or underuse, and when to adjust or discontinue therapy based on the patient’s condition.
• Emergency Procedures: Understand how to quickly assess the need for oxygen and administer it efficiently while coordinating with emergency medical services.
