Programme Structure:
The programme consists of three modules:
Module 1: Work Area Protection and Safety Equipment
Credit: 1 ECTS
Module 2: Erecting Structural Steel Work
Credit: 1 ECTS
Module 3: Setting Out, Formwork and Falsework – Erecting and Dismantling
Credit: 1 ECTS
Programme Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge Learners Will Gain:
Identify and describe types of structural steel, their properties, and construction applications.
Sequence and plan steel erection processes in line with technical drawings and specifications.
Recognize responsibilities of a steel erector with respect to safety, quality, and productivity.
Understand relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice in structural steel erection.
Identify lifting and access equipment, their applications, and associated safety requirements.
Understand team roles, communication, and coordination during steel erection.
Skills Learners Will Develop:
Interpret technical drawings and specifications for steel erection projects.
Prepare, assemble, erect, and dismantle structural steel components safely and efficiently.
Operate lifting and access equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Perform quality control and inspection of steel components and connections.
Conduct risk assessments, implement safe work practices, and use PPE appropriately.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders.
