Paediatric Emergency First Aid

What You’ll Learn:

• Paediatric CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Learn the correct techniques for performing CPR on infants, children, and toddlers, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and adapting techniques based on the child’s size and age.
• Choking Emergencies: Understand how to identify and respond to choking in infants and older children, including the use of back blows, chest thrusts, and abdominal thrusts.
• Basic Injury Management: Learn how to treat common childhood injuries such as cuts, bruises, sprains, and fractures, as well as how to recognize and respond to serious injuries.
• Burns and Scalds: Learn how to treat burns and scalds in children, including how to assess the severity and provide immediate first aid.
• Seizures and Medical Emergencies: Understand how to recognize and respond to seizures, allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and other medical conditions common in children.
• Head Injuries and Concussions: Learn to identify signs of head trauma in children and how to manage suspected concussions or more serious head injuries.
• Fever and Illness: Know how to manage common childhood illnesses like fever, colds, and stomach bugs, and when to seek medical advice.
• Poisoning and Ingestion: Understand how to respond when a child has ingested or been exposed to toxic substances, including common household poisons.
• Mental Health Awareness for Children: Learn how to recognize signs of distress or trauma in children, including techniques for calming and reassuring children in emergency situations.

Course Equipment:

Participants will engage in hands-on training with the following equipment:

• Paediatric CPR Manikins: For practicing infant and child CPR techniques, including chest compressions and rescue breathing.
• Choking Simulation Models: To practice techniques such as back blows and abdominal thrusts on infants and older children.
• First Aid Kits: To understand the essential components of a first aid kit and how to use them for paediatric injuries.
• Burn and Wound Care Materials: To demonstrate how to treat burns and manage wounds in children.
• Emergency Simulation Equipment: For practicing emergency scenarios such as seizures, choking, and trauma in a safe environment.

All necessary materials and equipment will be provided for practical sessions, allowing participants to practice their skills confidently.
